Excursion overview

Day 1:
Morning - Have breakfast at the hotel then our friendly expert Egyptologist guide will accompany you to the area of inspiring Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza. Built 4600 years ago Khufu, the successor of Sneferu, was known as a tyrant and in his arrogance he decided to have a tomb built that was bigger and better than all others.
The three Pyramids were built by: Cheops (Khufu), Chephren (Khafra) & Mycrenios (Menkaura). The Great Pyramid was built by King Cheops (IV Dynasty). King Chefren, the son of Cheops built the second Pyramid and the third Pyramid was built in the reign of “Menkaura”, the son of Chefren. The mysterious Sphinx, with its mask of Chephren and body of a Lion, stands close by as a guard of the land of pharaohs.
The Sphinx and the three Pyramids were considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Next we will move on to Sakkara (located 25 Km south of Cairo). Djeser’s (Zosser’s) step Pyramid (built 4700 years ago) dominates the skyline and is believed to be the ancient Egyptians first attempt at pyramid building. The first pyramid ever built was the step pyramid of Zosser.

Then into The Southern (Bent) Pyramid of Dashur which was built of local limestone and cased with fine Turah limestone. It is about 101m in height while the length of each side is 188.6m. The original entrance of the Pyramid is on the northern face as usual, but Professor Ahmed Fakhry (1905–1973), during his works in 1951, discovered another entrance on its western side.

Back to the hotel to for some rest and relaxation then we will invite you for the delights of the best Middle Eastern cuisine while cruising down the Nile on a 5 Star Riverboat. Enjoy traditional Egyptian Sufi and Belly Dancing show, which is a very pleasant way to spend an evening and experience Cairo by night.

Back to the hotel.

After breakfast you will enjoy the legendary treasures of the Egyptian Museum. Take a look at some of the most exquisite and ancient artifacts and statues in history. Then see the Islamic areas of Cairo including the Citadel of Saladdin - boasting the famous Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali.

The next destination will be to the Coptic area of Cairo where the Romans constructed the fortress of Babylon which is built over the ruins of two towers of the fortress the church of St. Mary or more commonly know as the Hanging Church, followed by St Sergius which is said to be the resting place for the Holy Family.

For the last evening in Cairo we will see a beautiful performance at the Giza Pyramids. The spectacular sound and laser light show is a must to see while in Cairo. The voice of the great Sphinx tells you the story of Pharaohs and their lives and how the great Pyramids were built. (The show is available in many different languages).

Transfer back to Cairo airport to fly back to Sharm and back to your hotel in Dahab.
